Front Porch: Snohomish to reconsider pot

The City Council is scheduled to discuss its ban on marijuana shops and processing at its next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 16.
The meeting is to take place at the Snohomish School District administration office, 1601 Ave. D.
The council is expected to mull recreational and medical marijuana rules and review state laws and how revenue from pot businesses is distributed.
The council is not expected to take action at the meeting. However, city staff might be asked to prepare for future changes.
Watch B.C. Ted conference: More than 1,000 people will attend the upcoming TED2016 DREAM Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia. But Sno-Isle Libraries will livestream the second day of the conference free at its Coupeville and Darrington libraries. The events will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Coupeville Library, 788 NW Alexander St., and at the Darrington Library, 1005 Cascade St.
Snohomish frog predicts weather: “Snohomish Slew,” a frog people count on for weather clues, has prognosticated for an early spring this year.
The city’s annual Groundfrog Day celebration was held Saturday. It’s a spin on Groundhog Day, when Punxsutawney Phil predicts the coming of spring.
Learn CPR in Lynnwood: The Lynnwood Fire Department will offer a free CPR training class from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Alderwood mall food court. Attendees will learn life-saving resuscitation techniques. There also will be free blood pressure checks.
