Final thoughts as Everett Silvertips fall to Victoria Royals

The Game

The Silvertips lost their third straight to match their season-long for the third time (though one stretch included a shootout loss and therefore a point).

Everett goaltender Carter Hart was good, but Victoria counterpart Griffen Outhouse was even better as Outhouse recorded 28 saves in his fourth shutout of the season.

I don’t think Hart saw the puck on Jack Walker’s point shot that gave Victoria a 1-0 lead. Hart also didn’t have much of a chance on the second goal as it deflected in – I believe off fellow Silvertip Spencer Gerth.

The Tips immediately packed up and left for Spokane where they will take on the Chiefs at 5 on Sunday in the third game of the weekend. Last time the Tips left for Spokane immediately after a game (an OT loss at Seattle) Everett earned a 3-1 win. That was an extremely successful three-in-three as they earned five out of a possible six points.

We’ll see how the Tips respond against a Chiefs team that is 6-2-1-1 in its last 10.

The Turning Point

The Tips got a power play chance with just under five minutes to play that was killed off by the Royals. Everett needed to make something of that opportunity and it wasn’t able to do so.

Three Stars

1. Victoria G Griffen Outhouse: The rookie netminder stopped all 28 shots he faced to earn his fourth shutout of the season.

2. Victoria F Jack Walker: Walker scored the first and game-winning goal with a slap shot from the point for his fourth goal against the Tips this week.

3. Everett G Carter Hart: The 17-year-old top prospect saved 32 of the 34 shots he faced in a hard-luck defeat.
