Monday’s highlights on TV include:

Season 12 of “The Voice” begins with the blind auditions as Gwen Stefani returns to the coaches panel. Now if only she and the others can finally discover a singer we’ll remember. 8 p.m., NBC.

Guy Pearce and Mary Louise-Parker head the cast of “When We Rise.” It’s an emotionally powerful four-part, eight-hour miniseries that recalls the 50-year history of the gay rights movement and shines a light on the activists who led the way. 9 p.m., ABC.

Inspired by the film franchise, “Taken” is a turbo-charged new drama series that follows the origin story of a younger, hungrier former Green Beret Bryan Mills (Clive Standen) as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes up his world. Jennifer Beals also stars. 10 p.m., NBC.
