Democrats to hear about trans-Pacific partnership Monday

Democrats in the 1st Legislative District will hear a debate about the Trans-Pacific Partnership proposal Monday.

The Democrats meet at the International Union of Operating Engineers Hall, 18701 120th Ave. N.E., Bothell at 7 p.m. Monday following a potluck dinner at 6.

Supporting the TPP free-trade agreement will be Ashley Dutta from the Washington Council of International Trade. On the opposing side will be Lynn Dodson of the Washington State Labor Council.

The meeting also will include a thank you to retiring 1st District State Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe and announcements about people running for various offices. With McAuliffe’s retirement, Democratic State Rep. Luis Moscoso and fellow Democrat Guy Palumbo, a Fire District 7 commissioner, have said they’ll run for the Senate position, leaving Moscoso’s seat open.
