Front Porch: Public hearing on Japanese Gulch in Mukilteo

The Mukilteo City Council has scheduled a public hearing on the Japanese Gulch Master Plan during its meeting that begins at 7 p.m. June 20 at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way. The master plan will define the future of the western portion of the gulch. The plan calls for recreational uses as well as places for a playground, an expanded community garden and dog park, viewpoints, picnic areas and a boardwalk.

Travel books: The Friends of the Edmonds Library book sale is displaying symptoms of the travel bug. A featured display of travel books and resources are now for sale at bargain prices in a corner of the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St. Find other books and bargain CDs and DVDs, too.

Lynnwood fire future: The city of Lynnwood recently reviewed initial findings from a consultant who was tasked with coming up with recommendations for the future of the city fire department. The city is mulling a contract or other permanent partnership with Snohomish County Fire District 1. The consultant’s report is expected to wrap up soon, likely later this month.
