Cast primary ballots today on accessible units

In-person voting for the Tuesday primary election is available Tuesday on accessible units at the Lynnwood Library and at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office in Everett.

The accessible voting unit at the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W, is available Tuesday, Election Day, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The unit at the county auditor’s office is open Election Day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The auditor’s office is on the first floor of the Administration West Building on the county courthouse campus at 3000 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett.

Such machines are designed for disabled people to vote independently, but anyone can use them.

The units are touch-screen voting devices that feature large font, audio and tactile options to assist voters in casting their choices.

A voter who wants to cast a ballot on an accessible unit will be asked to show a photo ID or sign a declaration. When a voter signs a declaration, election workers are required to match the signature on the declaration to the signature on file in the voter registration system.

Voters also may return completed ballots at a 24-hour ballot drop box at any time until 8 p.m. Election Day.

The drop boxes are near the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St, Edmonds; in front of the Lynnwood City Hall, 19100 44th Ave., Lynnwood; at the Bothell QFC parking lot, 22833 Bothell-Everett highway, Bothell; at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. S.E., Everett; at the Courthouse Campus in Everett; and at sites in Arlington, Lake Stevens, Marysville, Monroe, Mukilteo, Snohomish and Stanwood.

Voters also may drop completed ballots at the county auditor’s office Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, Aug. 2. At local postal locations that means a deadline between 4:15 and 5:45 p.m.
