Proponents of a state ballot measure aimed at reducing the influence of money in politics will present their views Thursday in Lynnwood.
The discussion on “Getting big money out of politics” is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. S.W., Lynnwood.
The Snohomish County League of Women Voters is one of the sponsors of the event. The Washington State League of Women Voters is one of the sponsors of Initiative 1464 on the November ballot. I-1464 would a start a program of public campaign financing.
Proponents say it would reduce the influence of money in politics. Opponents including former Secretary of State Sam Reed say it would take state money that should be used for public schools. Opponents have announced no public events in south Snohomish County.
