EVERETT — Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies checking on an abandoned house near south Everett on Saturday found a suspect from an alleged carjacking and the red 2015 Subaru Impreza reported as stolen.

The deputies arrested the 26-year-old woman from Mill Creek and booked her into jail. A robbery charge is expected, said Sgt. Shane Hawley of the Edmonds Police Department, which is handling the investigation.

The alleged carjacking occurred Oct. 20, when a young woman with blond hair approached a 17-year-old girl at Edmonds Community College’s Lynnwood campus.

“It was a rainy day, and the suspect came over and asked for a ride to Swedish/Edmonds hospital,” which was about a dozen blocks away, Hawley said.

The 17-year-old agreed and drove the woman to the hospital. But when they pulled up to the entrance, the passenger reportedly said, “‘Well, I want your car, and I have a gun,’” he said.

The girl, who is from Mountlake Terrace, told police that she refused to get out and drove off — with the would-be carjacker still sitting next to her, Hawley said.

A fight broke out in the car. The driver made it about two blocks when her alleged assailant finally forced her out of the car and drove off. The driver had minor injuries, he said.
