The Foundation for Edmonds School District partnered with the Rotary Club of Edmonds Daybreakers to award an $18,000 grant to support music programs in the Edmonds School District.

Funds support:

– Mountlake Terrace High School’s Creative Music Adventures partnership with Michael Stegner, with a focus on improvisation and composition strategies

– Creating equity in the Edmonds School District middle school girls jazz band

– A new pilot program at Scriber Lake High School

– Professional clinicians and professional development for both students and teachers

The money will help support existing programs “and create increased opportunities for younger students to engage in the art of jazz,” district Music Director Scott Barnes said.
