My thoughts: Russia has been in the news a lot lately. But here’s one thing about the former Soviet Republic we can all agree on: Russian imperial stout.

Lake Stevens Brewing recently brewed Valhalla for this weekend’s Washington Beer Open House. The beer is one of the first limited-release beers the brewery has released since opening late last year.

The brewery will be pairing four of its beers — Firehouse Honey Amber, Lakeside Blonde, Big Dock IPA and Valhalla — with different cheeses, chocolates and charcuterie during today’s Open House.

From the brewery: Dark and roasty with bold notes of chocolate and caramel. Balanced with a hefty dose of hops — just the way the tsars like it. Vashe zdorovie!
