Edmonds has $20,000 to address local residents’ concerns about speeding in their neighborhoods. Now, city staff need to decide where to spend it.

The Traffic Calming Program pays for things like speed radar feedback signs, and other signs or pavement markings aimed at reducing speeds.

To be considered for an improvement, residents must submit a “Citizen Action Request” and a “Neighborhood Petition Form.” The petition must have supporting signatures from at least eight different households within the neighborhood.

The deadline to be considered for the current round of funding is March 7.

Both forms are online, at http://tinyurl.com/jlvexx2.

City staff will review the petitions, pluck out those that qualify, then rank them by priority to determine which areas see improvements.

Materials can be submitted to transportation engineer Bertrand Hauss at bertrand.hauss@edmondswa.gov or by mail to Edmonds City Hall, attn: Engineering Division, 121 Fifth Ave. N, Edmonds, WA 98020.
