EVERETT — The Stillaguamish Flood Control District filed a lawsuit against Snohomish County last week seeking to reinstate a member of a regional board who was ousted earlier this year.

The County Council voted Jan. 11 to remove Max Albert from his appointed post on the Stillaguamish River Clean Water District Advisory Board. They took action after female county employees complained that Albert made unwanted comments about their looks and that his alleged conduct continued after he received training about appropriate workplace behavior.

Albert has said he was denied an opportunity to respond to the allegations.

Albert was the flood control district’s representative on the clean water board. The board makes recommendations to county staff and elected officials about water-quality programs. Under the board’s bylaws, the county executive nominates its members and the County Council approves them.

The district filed its complaint March 2 in Snohomish County Superior Court. The suit asks the court to invalidate the council motion that removed Albert. It requests attorney fees and other appropriate relief.
