Granite Falls teen serves as Legislative page
Published 1:30 am Wednesday, April 5, 2017
Orion Green, a freshman at Granite Falls High School, recently worked as a page in the state Senate in Olympia. He was sponsored by Sen. Kirk Pearson, R-Monroe. The class secretary is big into robotics and hopes to become an engineer.
Pages perform a wide variety of responsibilities, from presenting the flags to distributing amendments on the floor. In addition to contributing to the efficient operation of the Legislature, pages receive daily civics instruction, draft their own bills, and participate in mock committee hearings.
To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14 and 16. For more information, visit tinyurl.com/HouseLegPage (Washington State House) or tinyurl.com/SenatePage (Washington State Senate).
