Jim and Dolores Werkhoven, dairy farmers from Monroe, were recognized at the May 5 Seattle Mariners game for their outstanding community service.
The annual recognition, given by the Mariners and the Dairy Farmers of Washington, honors dairy farmers who “go above and beyond to serve their neighbors and communities.”
The Werkhovens were highlighted for their sustainable farming practices, including turning cow manure into electricity. The couple also are active in their church and supply the local food bank with beef.
