Navy performs emergency drill
Naval Station Everett plans to conduct a regularly scheduled exercise at approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday. People coming to the base should prepare for a gate closure lasting several minutes and possible traffic delays.
The exercise scenario will include the use of simulated gunshots using blank rounds, emergency response vehicles, and boat activity in the harbor.

Flea market supports shelter animals
The Camano Animal Shelter Association sponsors an annual flea market fundraiser, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 E Camano Drive, Camano Island.
Sort through the treasures, name your price and make your purchase. Hot dogs will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The shelter, along with its cats and dogs, will be available for visitors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Speed dating for seniors
The Edmonds Senior Center holds another “Speed Dating for Seniors” event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, after the first such event was a hit.
Admission is $12 for members, $17 for non-members, and includes catered appetizers and nonalcoholic beverages — along with a chance to meet someone new (or just share some laughs).
No tickets will be sold at the door. Reservations are required.

All about orcas
Orca Network, Whale Scout and The Whale Trail team up to provide education about “Whales In Your Neighborhood,” noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at various locations throughout the region.
Meet an expert naturalist to search for whales and to learn more about land-based whale watching and the whales who live in the Salish Sea. This event is part of Orca Awareness Month.
