American Legion Post 181 in cooperation with Boy Scouts of America’s Mount Baker Council Troop 42 gathered June 10 to properly retire more than 315 U.S. flags.
The special ceremony, held at the Lake Stevens Fire Department, included burning the faded, torn and otherwise worn flags on hot coals as outlined by the U.S. Flag Code.
“The entire Flag Code is interesting reading,” said Tony Morea, American Legion Post commander. “The Scouts did a great job at this ceremony.”
