MONROE — Alcohol is suspected in a crash along U.S. 2 in Monroe on Tuesday night. Three people were injured, one critically.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m. at the highway’s intersection with Roosevelt Road.

An Arlington woman, 54, was eastbound in a Chevrolet Blazer. Witnesses said she was swerving before she ran a red light to make a left turn. The Blazer collided with a westbound Chevrolet Malibu. The Arlington woman has serious injuries.

The Malibu driver, a 64-year-old Marysville man, also was seriously hurt. His passenger was his mother-in-law, who is 87. Her injuries were critical.

Monroe police are investigating.
