Mill Creek town hall
Learn more about Mill Creek city government at a town hall-style meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. July 17. The location is the large community room at City Hall North, 15720 Main St.
People will have the chance to ask questions and how to participate in upcoming initiatives. Light refreshments will be served.

Learn about new elementary school
Design and planning is well underway for the Everett School District’s 18th elementary school, planned for construction north of 180th Street SE at 46th Avenue SE in Bothell. The $43.9 million elementary is scheduled to open in 2019. An open house to see the design and learn more is set for 6 to 8 p.m. July 18 at Cedar Wood Elementary School, 3414 168th St. SE, Bothell.

Roller coaster fun
Middle- and high-school age youth can spend an afternoon building paper roller coasters, 2 to 4 p.m. July 13 at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave. More roller coaster fun is set for 4 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Monroe Library, 1070 Village Way.

Grocery Outlet accepting donations
Grocery Outlet is accepting food and cash donations for its seventh annual Independence from Hunger Food Drive. All proceeds go to local agencies who help feed people in the community. Donations can be made online or in stores during the month of July. The goal is to raise $1 million. There is a Grocery Outlet located along SE Everett Mall Way in Everett, 44th Avenue West in Lynnwood and State Avenue in Marysville.

Assist cancer patients
The Cancer Resource Center at the Providence Regional Cancer Partnership seeks volunteers to work weekly four-hour shifts meeting with cancer patients and caregivers to provide support. Drivers also are needed to get cancer patients to treatments and appointments. Volunteers use their own vehicles.

Help walk dogs
The Humane Society at HappyPaws Farm seeks volunteers to help walk large dogs afternoons at the shelter. Volunteers should be at least 18 years old and experienced with dogs, 19933 Old Burn Road in Arlington. Other volunteers also are needed to cut grass, raise funds to obtain dog and cat food for an animal food bank and vet expenses, and other tasks.
