GRANITE FALLS — A ballot drop box has been added outside the Granite Falls Library at 815 E. Galena St.
It’s the newest of 13 boxes where ballots can be deposited any time until 8 p.m. on an election day. The next election is the Aug. 1 primary.
State lawmakers recently passed legislation requiring a ballot drop box for every 15,000 registered voters, and one in each city, town or census-designated place with a post office. That’s 19 more boxes for Snohomish County, according to the elections office. Counties must pay for the boxes as the state did not provide funding.
Completed ballots also can be mailed, but must be postmarked by Aug. 1.
