HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Northwest League All-Stars led the Pioneer League All-Stars 5-4 Tuesday night before a sellout crowd at Ron Tonkin Field when the Daily Herald went to press.

The Everett AquaSox had three representatives at the event in pitcher Andres Torres, infielder Joseph Rosa and catcher David Banuelos.

Both Banuelos and Rosa figured prominently as the NWL All-Stars turned a 4-0 deficit into a 5-4 led in the bottom of the fifth.

Rosa led off off with a walk and scored when Luis Asuncion followed with a double. Camden Duzenack added an RBI single, and two outs later Banuelos came up as a pinch-hitter and singled in Duzenack to cut the Pioneer League’s lead to 4-3.

Three consecutive walks pushed Banuelos across the plate for the tying run, and another walk scored Steven Linkous with the go-ahead run as the NWL claimed the 5-4 lead. Rosa eventually ended the inning with a strikeout.

The Pioneer League initially struck for four runs in the top of the second against reliever Emmanuel Ramirez. Dallas Carroll singled in Robby Rinn and Ryan Vilade, and Carroll scored on a single by Shael Mendoza. Mendoza stole second and third, and scored on a base hit by Amalani Fukofuka.

That was all for Ramirez, who was pulled for William Oulette. The Vancouver Canadians closer fanned Luiz Paz to end the inning.

Rosa lined out with two aboard to end the bottom of the second inning in his first at-bat. Banuelos led off the seventh by striking out swinging.

Torres, the top starting pitcher for the AquaSox so far this season, pitched a perfect top of the fourth for the NWL. He recorded a strikeout in the frame and was lifted after one inning.

Banuelos, Rosa and Torres don’t have have far to travel after the game. The AquaSox resume the 2017 regular season Thursday with a five-game series at Salem-Keizer at 6:35 p.m.
