Students donate uniforms to Zambian peers

A uniform provider changed the shade of green on uniform vests used by St. Mary Magdalen School. The school decided to shift to the new color. But what to do with all those usable vests in the darker shade?
Kindergarten teacher Katie White connected with Seattle Academy, which has relationships with several groups in Zambia.
More than 100 of the local school’s old vests are now being used by students at St. Peter’s School in Lusaka, which had been struggling to get donated uniforms because of shipping costs. White was able to hand off St. Mary Magdalen’s vests to a team traveling to the area over the summer.
The remainder of the school’s dark green vests were donated to Ragfinery, a nonprofit training business and textile reuse center in Bellingham.
