St. Thomas More Catholic School in Lynnwood celebrated the culmination of a pet food and toy drive with a Blessing of the Pets on Oct. 4. The effort was just one of several service projects students perform throughout the school year.

Students earlier finished a Coin Drive for Catholic Relief Services, bringing in more than $560 for recent hurricane, wildfire and earthquake relief efforts.

In November, they turn their attention to a holiday food drive for St. Vincent de Paul. In December, they will collect toys and gifts for Catholic Community Services. During Catholic Schools Week in January, the school community will choose a charity to benefit from the proceeds of a book fair. And for Lent, children bring in their coins to help Heifer International.
