Soroptimist International of Everett recently recognized Everett High School Navy Junior ROTC Commander Rick Gile for his continued work with high school students.

The Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps works to instill the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.

Everett students together have provided about 2,000 community service hours in the past year.

Other local Navy Junior ROTC units are at Marysville Pilchuck High School and Oak Harbor High School.
