The EvergreenHealth Monroe Foundation raised more than $190,000 at its annual Blue Jeans & Boots Gala, surpassing its fundraising goal. The event was held Sept. 9 at Pine Creek Nursery in Monroe. More than 220 people attended.

Proceeds will go to a new trauma room opening at EvergreenHealth Monroe, and will also support the purchase of trauma-readiness equipment for the new unit.

As part of the gala, the Foundation also presented a $200,000 contribution, raised as part of a year-long campaign, to support the EvergreenHealth Monroe Breast Center’s purchase of a 3-D tomosynthesis mammography unit.

The Foundation also presented the Dr. Joseph Feek Community Service Award to Neil Watkins, formerly of North Star Administrators and Sky Valley Food Bank, who has long been involved in many local causes.
