Scattered power outages around region after gusty Saturday

EVERETT — Weather forecasters predicted light snow, slippery roads and poor visibility across western Washington from late Saturday night into Sunday morning, after a day of wind gusts and rain.
A winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service in Seattle was set to last until 9 p.m. Sunday.
Up to 2 inches of snow could fall in some lowland areas of Snohomish County, according to the advisory.
High wind gusts swept the region most of the day and into the night on Saturday. The highest recorded wind gusts were 48 mph at Paine Field around 10 a.m. and 58 mph near Lake Stevens around 2 a.m. A gust of 61 mph was logged at Coupeville on Whidbey Island around 12:45 p.m.
The Snohomish County PUD reported scattered outages, including clusters in the Arlington, Index, Lake Stevens and Snohomish areas.
A utility pole broke at Third and Bell streets in Edmonds late Saturday morning, temporarily closing the road.
Because of snowy conditions over Stevens Pass, the Washington State Department of Transportation was requiring chains on all vehicles except for all-wheel drives.
