A record-warm day in Everett and all over Western Washington

EVERETT — A 70-degree reading at Paine Field Monday afternoon set a record high for March 12. The previous record for the date was 63 degrees, recorded in 2015, the National Weather Service said.

Temperature records were falling all over Western Washington. In Arlington, it was 72 degrees. At Sea-Tac Airport, a 73-degree reading was not only a record, it was the earliest 70-plus-degree day ever recorded there, the weather service said. It was 73 at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.

This taste of spring was expected to be short-lived. On Tuesday, a frontal system was forecast to move inland, bringing rain. After an overnight low of about 48 degrees, Tuesday’s high in Everett is expected to be about 55.
