Rowan Evans, a fifth-grader at Forest View Elementary School in Everett, was inducted into the AAA School Safety Patrol Hall of Fame. He was among 10 young people selected from a pool of over 40 nominations. Patrollers were evaluated and judged on their commitment to traffic safety, citizenship, leadership skills and contributions to school safety patrol programs.

“Rowan takes his role seriously,” Principal Darren Larama said.

The school safety patrol program got its start in 1924 at Garfield Elementary School in Everett. It expanded and eventually was taken on by AAA, which now coordinates the program statewide. In that time, safety colors changed, from white to orange to today’s “electric lime.”
