The 2018 SkillsUSA Washington State Conference was held April 19-21 in Yakima and featured several contests. Several students from Snohomish County programs earned medals.

Meanwhile, Arlington High School culinary arts teacher Teri Bravomejia was named the SkillsUSA Washington Advisor of the Year. Her son, Henry, who is a SkillsUSA state officer, was able to present her with the award. She was nominated by a colleague from Oak Harbor, Mary Arthur, with whom she organized a regional culinary competition.
