Right turns on red restricted at east end of Fern Bluff Road

SULTAN — The Washington State Department of Transportation plans to implement a “no turn on red” turn restriction at the east end of Fern Bluff Road heading into the Memorial Day weekend, city staff said. The turn restriction limits eastbound right-hand turns at the intersection of Fern Bluff Road and U.S. 2 during peak hours Fridays and Saturdays.
The change is being made by WSDOT in conjunction with the Washington State Patrol and Snohomish County, according to a city notice. The restriction is in effect 2 to 7 p.m. Fridays and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
The change aims to alleviate the peak-hour congestion that occurs when drivers use Fern Bluff Road as a bypass route for U.S. 2.
