Soroptimists hand out awards

Soroptimist International of Everett presented five awards to women in the community.
Two scholarship awards were given to young women for academics and volunteer work at nonprofits that benefit women and girls. Parker Leland and Danica Wood, both students in the Everett School District, each received a $3,000 scholarship. They both plan to attend the University of Washington.
The Live Your Dream Award of $3,000 was presented to Shauna Robinson. The award is given to a woman who provides the primary financial support for her family.
The Violet Richardson Award is given to a young volunteer. Ayla Chau from Granite Falls won the $1,000 award, which she split with her chosen nonprofit, the Boys and Girls Club of Granite Falls.
The Ruby Award of $500 went to Vicci Hilty, director of Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County, for her work to improve the lives of women and girls.
The President’s Choice Award of $1,000, given to a nonprofit of the club president’s choice, went to the Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish.
