Foundation awards nearly $400K to south county causes

The Hazel Miller Foundation awarded $250,000 to the city of Mountlake Terrace for the new Ballinger Park Playground.

The grant was in addition to $146,000 in other awards handed out in May.

Other grant recipients were the Edmonds School District (academic coaching program), Mountlake Terrace Friends of the Arts (Andrew Morrison mural project), Edmonds-Woodway High School Music Boosters (Jazz Colony), South Snohomish County Consortium (back to school fair), Clothes For Kids (clothing purchases), Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County (Alderwood club’s Triple Play and Healthy Habits programs), Salish Sea Expeditions (scholarships), Cascadia Art Museum (sponsorship), Cascade Symphony Orchestra (community and youth programs), Seattle Shakespeare (Wooden O in the Park), Communities of Color Coalition (general support), and Steel Magic Northwest (instrument cases).
