STANWOOD — A vacant house and shop south of Stanwood were destroyed by fire Tuesday morning.
The fire was reported by a neighbor who awoke to a loud bang. The neighbor then saw the fire in the two-story house around 6 a.m. on 62nd Avenue NW, Silvana Fire Chief Keith Strotz said.
Crews from Arlington, Getchell, Marysville and Camano Island used about 25,000 gallons of water to battle the flames.
The home was a total loss, Strotz said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
