The U.S. Coast Guard Foundation awarded a scholarship to Taylor Venema, daughter of EM1 Joshua Morgan, from Everett. Venema, who attends the University of Maine, also received a scholarship last year.

In all, the Foundation this year awarded 182 scholarships totaling $500,000; the group does not disclose individual award amounts. Scholarships are awarded to college-age children of active duty, reserve, retired and deceased Coast Guard members.
