Mark Riise, of Everett, has earned the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Award, the group’s highest rank. He will be recognized at a special ceremony Oct. 12 at Mountain View Community Church, which sponsors Troop 137 of Snohomish.

The teen has earned 40 merit badges, earned national awards including the Medal of Merit for helping catch a thief, and served in Mount Baker BSA Council’s National Youth Leadership Training program. His service project involved design and construction of a removable event sign for the church.

Riise is a senior at Cedar Park Christian School in Mountlake Terrace, where is lead programmer with the robotics team.

From here, Riise plans to stay involved through the Boy Scouts Sea Scouts program. He joins Sea Scouts Troop 6 on the Edmonds waterfront.
