Steve Peterson was honored as Arlington Kiwanis Person of the Year at a special banquet on Oct. 3.

Peterson, who grew up in Oso and graduating from Arlington High School in 1966, has served as an Arlington police officer and a commissioner on the Civil Service Board. For two of the several years he participated, he also was secretary of the Cascade Valley Hospital Board. Honoring his late wife, Kathy, he has helped the Kiwanis and the Library Board for the past five years with their annual purchase and presentation of a dictionary for every local third-grade student.

This year’s dictionaries will be presented to students in honor of both Kathy and Steve Peterson.

Peterson is a former president and board member of the Arlington Kiwanis Club.
