The first film adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic novel “The Lost World,” about a land where prehistoric creatures still roam, will be screened at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Trinity Episcopal Church.

Here are two more ways to celebrate Halloween, especially if you like a little music to inflate the spooky spirit of the holiday.

Lee Mathews, who led The Everett Chorale for 25 years, is now leading a new artistic endeavor — the Port Gardner Bay Music Society — which launches its season with a special Halloween concert on Oct. 28.

Called “Organ Music from the Crypt,” it will feature four organists performing classical and popular music to highlight the Halloween season: Gary Norris, Kim Croft, Karin Larsen and John Jorgenson.

The pieces they will play are: “Prelude and Fugue in B Minor” by J.S. Bach; “Toccata” by Leon Boellmann; “Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber; “Toccata” by Eugene Gigout; “Chorale” by J.S. Bach; “Inspector Clouseau Theme” by Henry Mancini; “Elegy on Behold a Host” by Dale Wood, “ ‘Round Midnight” by Thelonius Monk; “Spooky” by Shapiro and Harry Middlebrooks; and “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor” by J. S. Bach.

Other concerts scheduled in the upcoming series are: A “Veterans Day Concert” by the Aaron Coe Brass Ensemble on Nov. 11; a free benefit community holiday sing-along on Dec. 23; “How Can I Keep From Singing” by the male quintet Common Ground on Jan. 27; “Music For Romance” by the Circle of Flutes on Feb. 24 and “Musical Frills and Flourishes” by the violin and harpsichord duo Sound/Counterpoint on March 24.

A second event, this one a silent movie accompanied by organ music and a costume contest, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Everett.

The 1925 movie, “The Lost World” will be shown, in which mighty prehistoric monsters clash with modern lovers. It is based on the book by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

It is considered the first “Jurassic-style” movie, known for amazing special effects for its time.

Music will be provided by church organist David Spring. Concessions available for purchase.
