Pot talk
The University of Washington’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute presents a free lecture, “Medical Marijuana: What Does Science Tell Us?” at noon Tuesday at Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo. Speaker is Jennifer Kapur, a pharmacist at Harborview Medical Center and teacher at Seattle Pacific University.

Silvana Fairboard Auction
An auction to support the Silvana Fair is set for March 9 at Viking Hall in downtown Silvana.
Items include homemade cinnamon rolls, fudge, muffins and pies, as well as horse tack and feed.
Silent auction is at 5:30 p.m., with a live auction to follow. There also is a snack bar and a $250 door prize. Proceeds support the youth aspects of the fair, including ribbons and trophies. The Silvana Fair started in 1947 as a learning fair, and that mission has continued. Silvana is a small community west of Arlington that has stayed true to its roots of farming and 4H.

Folk Harp Circle
Enjoy an afternoon of music. Harp players are invited to participate in the Puget Sound Folk Harp Circle — all skill levels are welcome. Everyone can listen.
It runs from 2 to 4:45 p.m. March 17 at the Mountlake Terrace Library.

Art submissions
The Edmonds parks department is asking people to submit original artwork to be used as the official poster of the 2019 Puget Sound Bird Fest. The theme is Shorebirds of the Pacific Northwest. The chosen artist receives a $200 prize and can sell prints during the festival, Sept. 13-15.
Photography and digital art will not be accepted. Submissions are due June 21. Entry forms are available at www.pugetsoundbirdfest.org.

Island eye candy
Submit a snapshot to Whidbey Camano Land Trust’s annual calendar photo contest. The contest showcases the natural beauty of Whidbey and Camano islands.

Donate sewing supplies
Snohomish County Clothing Textile Advisors seeks donations of fabric, notions, needlework, yarn, related supplies and equipment for its annual summer fabric sale. Proceeds will go to local scholarships, grants and sewing classes.
