STANWOOD — A Burbank man died two days after a Memorial Day crash north of Stanwood.
Alexis Ortega Verdin, 37, was driving a red Ford Explorer north on the freeway when he swerved off the road to the right around 7:40 p.m. Monday, two miles north of the exit to Stanwood.
The car rolled before coming to a rest on its side in a ditch, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A Mount Vernon woman, 38, in a passenger seat suffered injuries that sent her to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
Ortega Verdin, who lived in the Tri-Cities area, was taken to the same hospital. He died Wednesday, according to the state patrol.
State troopers said they believe drugs or alcohol factored into the crash, but declined to be specific.
The exact cause remained under investigation.
