The musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” through Nov. 17, follows an eclectic group of middle schoolers as they fight for the title of regional spelling bee champ — and all the glory that comes with it. Tickets are $70 general, $65 senior and $55 youth.

Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school); 360-322-7402; redcurtainfoundation.org. “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical,” showing Nov. 29 through Dec. 15, is a new musical adaptation of the family holiday classic. The rowdy Herdman kids join their local church’s annual production of “The Christmas Story,” causing panic throughout the town. Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for students, seniors and military, and $10 for kids 12 and younger.

Edmonds Driftwood Players: Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds; www.edmondsdriftwoodplayers.org; 425-774-9600. “A Christmas Story: The Musical,” staging Nov. 29 through Dec. 22, is the musical based on the popular 1983 film. All Ralphie wants for Christmas is a BB gun. Tickets are $28 adults and $25 for seniors, juniors and military.

Phoenix Theatre: 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds; 206-533-2000; www.tptedmonds.org. Showing Nov. 29 through Dec. 22, is the madcap Christmas comedy “Inspecting Carol.” Behind the scenes of a struggling theatre’s annual clumsy production of “A Christmas Carol,” rehearsals are at a standstill. Tim is no longer Tiny, Scrooge wants to do the play in Spanish (Feliz Navidad), and the play’s funding is on hold pending an inspection. Tickets are $25 adults, $20 seniors, students, military.

“O Christmas Tea: A British Comedy”: Off-Broadway comedians James & Jamesy (Aaron Malkin and Alastair Knowles) present the Christmas comedy at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N., Edmonds. When catastrophe strikes at James and Jamesy’s Christmas tea party, flooding the world with tea, the friends leap into action, finding innovative and hilarious solutions to keep them afloat. Everett High School: Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is showing 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15, 16, 22 and 23 and 2:30 p.m. Nov. 16 and 23 at Everett High School’s Little Theatre, 2331 Hoyt Ave., Everett. The Bard’s comic fantasy is about four lovers who find themselves bewitched by fairies is a sly reckoning with love, jealousy and marriage. “Sugar Skull! A Dia de Los Muertos Musical Adventure”: Young Vita thinks her family has gone “loco” planning a celebration for deceased loved ones. But when a candy skeleton on her abuelita’s cemetery “ofrenda” suddenly springs to life, Vita finds herself on a magical, musical journey to unravel the true meaning of Día de los Muertos. Olympic Ballet Theatre: See Olympic Ballet Theatre’s “The Nutcracker” in Everett Dec. 13-15.
