LYNNWOOD — A man who died Sunday after a gas station shooting on Highway 99 has been identified.
TejPal Singh, 60, of Snohomish, was working at the Chevron near the intersection of 148th Street SW and Highway 99 when a man entered the store around 5:40 a.m. The suspect reportedly shot Singh in an attempted robbery, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect fled but was captured on surveillance video. He wore an orange-and-black baseball cap, a white mask, dark pants, a black puffy jacket and white slip-on sandals.
An investigation was still underway Monday to identify the suspect. Anyone with information was asked to call 911.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Singh’s cause of death was a gunshot wound. The manner of death was homicide.
Friends and family gathered at the Chevron station Monday to mourn their lost loved one. A table was set up outside the store with flowers, a framed photo of Singh and a sign that read, “In loving memory of TejPal Singh, forever in our hearts.”
Singh is survived by his wife and three children.
“He was very well liked and very well known by his customers, vendors and community,” said Kelly Johal, who said she was a family member. “He was a loving father and a man of God.”
Singh’s family is asking for donations through an online fundraiser to pay for a memorial service and other expenses associated with the man’s death.
A candlelight vigil was scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday outside the Chevron. The public is welcome to attend.
