EVERETT — Wednesday night’s game between the Everett Silvertips and Spokane Chiefs at Angel of the Winds Arena was postponed due to two positive COVID-19 tests with players on the active roster of the Chiefs, the Western Hockey League announced.
Both players on the Chiefs who tested positive were fully vaccinated in accordance with the WHL’s mandatory vaccination policy, according to the league. Because of that, no other clubs are considered high-risk close contacts. Everett and Spokane have played each other three consecutive games.
“All Silvertips players and hockey staff have tested negative for COVID-19 as of (Wednesday),” Everett announced in a press release. “Therefore, Silvertips home games scheduled to be played Friday against the Tri-City Americans and Saturday against the Seattle Thunderbirds will be played as scheduled.”
The WHL said the Chiefs will pause all team activities, including on-ice practices and off-ice training, pending further test results.
The Silvertips said information on the rescheduling of the game will be provided at a later date and all tickets purchased for Wednesday’s game will be honored for the rescheduled date.
The Silvertips (9-0-0-1) are currently tied for first place in the U.S. Division with the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Everett’s next schedule game is against Tri-City at 7:05 p.m. Friday at home. Spokane’s next game is currently scheduled for Friday at Victoria.
