I-5 south to close for light rail work near Mountlake Terrace

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — People commuting through Mountlake Terrace on I-5 this weekend should expect overnight lane and ramp closures.

Southbound I-5 lanes will close 11 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday from 220th Street SW to Highway 104. The two left lanes will be closed longer, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The southbound flyover ramp from I-5 to Highway 104 will close at 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday. Its HOV ramp won’t reopen until 7 a.m.

Northbound I-5 traffic won’t have the ramp to Highway 104 from 11 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday.

A similar southbound I-5 lane closure is scheduled for 11 p.m. Saturday until 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and the left two lanes will close from 9 p.m. until 8 a.m.

The weekend’s final lane closure is set for 11 p.m. Sunday until 4 a.m. Monday.

Construction also will close the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center’s freeway station this weekend and from 11 p.m. Friday, May 20 through 4 a.m. Monday, May 23. Riders accustomed to catching a bus at that stop instead will board at bus bay No. 3 on 236th Street Southwest.
