Tassels are getting turned and caps are getting tossed as the 2022 graduation season shifts into high gear.

Thousands of high school and community college students in Snohomish County are receiving diplomas this year at commencement ceremonies that began last week and continue through the middle of the month.

“It’s our time to go on adventures, make mistakes, meet new people and try new things. We are young and have so much ahead of us, so let’s make the most of it and make our lives extraordinary,” Emma Morris, Lake Stevens High senior class president, proclaimed Tuesday night before she and 591 classmates turned their tassels at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett.

One of the year’s first public high school ceremonies occurred June 3 at Granite Falls High School. The next day, seniors at Darrington High donned caps and gowns.
