MONROE — Two people, including a King County Sheriff’s Office deputy, were hurt in a head-on suspected DUI crash Wednesday evening on U.S. 2 east of Monroe.

An Arlington woman, 21, was driving west in a Nissan Altima sedan on the highway near Fern Bluff Road. She allegedly crossed the center line around 8 p.m. and hit the deputy’s patrol SUV head-on, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Both drivers were taken to EvergreenHealth Monroe.

The cause of the collision was under investigation. Alcohol or drugs were suspected to be a factor, according to the state patrol.

All lanes of the highway were closed until after midnight.
