GIRLS BASKETBALL

Friday

Class 1A

No. 4 King’s 45, No. 1 Lynden Christian 44

YAKIMA — Kaleo Anderson’s 3-pointer at the buzzer stunned the top-ranked Lyncs and and sent King’s to Saturday’s state championship game. Anderson led the Knights with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Kaitlin Cramer added 12 points.

King’s outscored Lynden Christian 19-10 in the third quarter and held on to advance to their first state title game since a loss to the Lyncs in the 2016 championship matchup a year after winning it all. Lynden Christian outrebounded the Knights 40-19 but turned the ball over 13 times compared to just seven for King’s.

Now that they’ve knocked off the No. 1 team, the Knights will try to do the same to No. 2 Bellevue Christian in the championship game, 7 p.m. Saturday at the Yakima SunDome.

TACOMA — The Grizzlies’ magical run came to an end at the hands of the top-seeded team in the state.

TACOMA — The Spartans were eliminated despite 25 points from Ellalee Wortham. Jazmyn Legg added 14 for Stanwood, which finished 21-6 overall.

YAKIMA — The Wildcats advanced to the consolation final and will play Saturday for fourth place. Individual statistics were not available at press time.

TACOMA — The Grizzles fell a game short of playing for the title and will battle for third place on Saturday.

YAKIMA — The Knights outscored Chelan 16-7 in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but the Goats made three of four 3-point shots in overtime and outscored King’s 15-11. Andrew Gerbig (18 points) Dozie Asinobi (17 points, six rebounds) and Colton Adams (10 points, six rebounds, four steals) led the Knights.

No. 6 Tulalip Heritage 67, Moses Lake Christian-Covenant Christian 54

SPOKANE — The Hawks advanced to the consolation final, where they’ll play Willapa Valley for fourth place in the tournament. JJ Gray led the Hawks with 25 points, six assists and five rebounds. Davien Parks (17 points) and Ziggy Myles-Gilford (13) also played major roles for Tulalip Heritage.
