AquaSox down Devils for consecutive wins

PASCO — The Everett AquaSox put together their first two-game win streak since June 19 by taking down the Tri-City Dust Devils 9-6 on Tuesday and 4-3 on Wednesday. Everett had won just two of its previous 12 games heading into the series and was a game under .500. With the wins, the Frogs moved to 42-41 with four games remaining in the series.
9-6 win vs. Tri-City, July 9
The AquaSox mustered seven runs over the final two frames to overcome a 6-2 seventh-inning deficit. Luis Suisbel (1-for-5, 2 RBI, run) brought home Colt Emerson (1-for-3, 2B, 3 runs) on a homer to right field in the eighth to cut the deficit to two. After a Brandon Eike (1-for-4, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, run) walk, Tai Peete (2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, run) went deep to right center to level the game at 6-6.
Freuddy Batista (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI, run) saved his lone hit for the perfect moment, bringing in two runs on a line drive double to right in the ninth. Batista would round the bases for an insurance score while reliever Tyler Cleveland (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K) earned his second save of the season by facing just five batters in the final frame. Nico Tellache (4.0 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 3 K) notched the win to move to 4-1 on the season.
4-3 win vs. Tri-City, July 10
The AquaSox followed up their comeback win to open the series with timely hits in Game 2 to squeak past the Devils. Emerson (1-for-5, 2 RBI, run), Batista (1-for-3, 2B, BB, RBI) and Suisbel (1-for-4, RBI) each registered RBI in two-out situations to account for all of Everett’s scoring. Suisbel hit on the lone run in the first while Emerson and Batista hit a single and a double, respectively, to score three runs in the fourth.
Shaddon Peavyhouse (1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB) earned his first win of the season to move to 1-2. Hunter Cranton (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB) faced just three batters in the ninth to preserve the slim lead and earned the save. The AquaSox also turned three double plays to stomp out some Tri-City comeback bids.
