AquaSox bats heat up Vancouver

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Everett AquaSox bats have been hot lately.

The Frogs used 13 hits and eight walks to pound the Vancouver Canadians 8-1 Tuesday for a Northwest League win at Nat Bailey Stadium to open the final regular season series of the season.

Everett, which as scored seven or more runs in three straight games, improved to 21-40 in the second half standings and 59-69 0verall. The AquaSox will play five more in Vancouver before playing in the Northwest League Championship Series next week.

Luis Suisbel led the way on Tuesday, going 2-for-3 with a walk, a run and three RBI. Milkar Perez and Brandon Eike each contributed three hits and an RBI.

While the AquaSox compiled baserunners, the Everett pitching staff limited the damage to one earned run.

Starter Teddy McGraw pitched three innings, allowing two hits and striking out four Canadians (35-26, 72-55). Ryan Hawks (W, 10-6) allowed three hits and three walks, and struck out six. Ben Hernandez finished the night off with two scoreless innings.

The Frogs put two runners on in the first inning, but came up empty. They responded in the top of the second with more traffic on the bases to take a 3-0 lead.

Carter Dorighi (2-for-4, walk, run, strikeout) and Perez and Eike opened the inning with three straight singles to take a 1-o lead. No. 9 hitter Anthony Donofrio picked up his first of four walks to load the bases, and Jonny Farmelo (1-for-6, run, RBI) drove in Perez with a groundout. Tai Peete (1-for-5, RBI, 2 strikeouts) singled to center to score Eike for a 3-0 advantage for all the runs the pitching staff needed.
