Driver rescued after truck crashes into tree and bursts into flames

EVERETT — One person was injured after a truck crashed into a tree Wednesday morning in Snohomish.

Around 5:38 a.m. Wednesday, the truck, traveling at highway speeds, was driving south in the 6300 block of Highway 9 when it left the roadway and hit a tree before bursting into flames, according to a Snohomish County Fire District No. 4 press release.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies were the first to arrive on scene and began fighting the flames with a fire extinguisher, the release said. Deputies removed the driver minutes after arriving.

Snohomish County Fire District No. 4’s first command vehicle arrived to assist the firefighting effort within two minutes of dispatch, the release said.

First responders transported the driver to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with serious injuries.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the collision, the release said. Law enforcement closed the roadway for about an hour to investigate the crash.
