Lake Stevens track teams do well at Pasco Invite

PASCO — The trip to Pasco proved worthwhile for the Lake Stevens boys and girls track teams.

Both Lake Stevens teams finished ahead of all other Wesco teams at the Pasco Invite on Saturday at Edgar Brown Stadium. The boys finished in sixth place with 26 points and the girls ended the day in 16th with 16 points.

Lake Stevens senior Joey Bywater won the boys 3,200-meter race with a time of 9 minutes, 23.07 seconds and just over seven seconds later, teammate Kyle VanSarten finished in sixth place.

Shorecrest’s Marek Domanski earned a fourth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 149 feet, 3 inches.

Lacey Wagner, a Lake Stevens freshman, earned a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 20.56 seconds.

Central Valley won the boys meet with a score of 41 and Bellarmine Prep finished first for the girls with 65 points.

Westling Invitational: At Langley, Marzell Jenkins of Mariner and Cayla Calderwood of South Whidbey each captured three events at the 25th annual event becoming track athletes of the meet. Mietra Smollack of Oak Harbor won two events to lead the Wildcats and was named the girls field athlete of the meet.

King’s Invitational: At Shoreline, junior Olivia Thomas broke meet records in the 800- (2:19.26) and 1600-meter (5:05.45) runs to help the King’s girls track team to a second-place finish behind Nampa Christian. Senior Victor Swanson finished first in the shot put (49-1.5) and discus (149-9) to lead the King’s boys track team to a first-place title.
