Jackson wins five of seven field events in Wesco South victory

EDMONDS – Steven Body won the javelin and the triple jump and Rory Wilson placed first in the discus and the high jump to help Jackson overpower host Meadowdale 82-62 in a Western Conference South Division boys track meet Thursday at Edmonds Stadium.
Body won the triple jump with a distance of 40 feet, 5.75 inches and his javelin throw of 165-6 was tops. Wilson’s winning discus toss traveled 128-4 and he cleared 5-4 in the high jump.
Johnie Kirton won the shot put (50-10.5) for Jackson, which placed first in 11 of 17 events.
Meadowdale’s Kevin Myhre won the 110- and the 300-meter hurdles races, posting a time of 15.29 seconds in the former and 41.09 in the latter.

Bothell 140, Franklin 3: The Cougars won all 17 events to capture the Kingco 4A victory. Ryan Dorsey (400- and 1,600-meter runs), Ryan Foster (long jump, triple jump) and Kameron Eckert (high jump, pole vault) each won two events and the Bothell 400 relay team turned in a time of 43.2 seconds, one of the best in the state this season.

Lakewood 9, Blaine 3: After giving up three runs (one earned) in the first two innings, Lakewood pitcher Alex Thomas retired 18 of the last 19 batters he faced to lead the Cougars to their 10th North Cascades victory. The Cougars, who scratched together five runs in the third, were led offensively by Jake Rife and Matt Bry, who each were 2-for-3 and drove in two runs apiece.
